ALBUQUERQUE—Kenneth Carson Sr., was honored at New Mexico Voices for Children's 20th Anniversary Gala for his work to improve the health and well-being of New Mexico's children. Mr. Carson received a Voice for Children Award in Albuquerque. Named the ‘Mentorship Voice,' Mr. Carson was honored for creating the Wise Men/Wise Women Mentorship Program. Volunteering as a mentor himself, Mr. Carson saw the need for caring adults to spend time with many more local school kids.

He started the program in 1992 in Albuquerque, and it is now in several communities across the state. Mr. Carson believes we have to be our children's role models not only by doing outstanding acts, but also by doing ordinary acts in an outstanding way.
