I had to smile as I thought about what John Maxwell wrote in his book, "Today Matters", and I quote: "2004 ended on December 31, 2004…last year and yesterday ended that night." Well guess what my beloved? You can say the same thing about the year 2007…it ended on December 31, 2007, which means last year and yesterday ended that night. Which also means that 2007 or the past is over. It's gone! You've walked out of last year and yesterday and what was the future is now today.
Pastor’s Corner
Bishop Byron Rogers, Sr. is a Power House for God and an Advocate for Education
Bishop Byron Rogers' father; a teacher; instilled the value of obtaining an education in him, his three brothers, and three sisters, and since, has been a strong advocate for education. He was instrumental in starting the first Black Christian School mainly because of what was happening in the city's public schools. At this time many students; especially children of color; were behind or failing learning the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic. The school focused on teaching these subjects so when students assimilated back into public school they would be at their grade level, and their efforts confirmed the schools motto; "We can't help everybody, but we can help somebody!"
The Harrell’s Preach the Words of Life
Pastor Jennie Harrell's hometown is Huntsville, AL, and her deeply religious parents raised their eleven children in the church. She said “I accepted Christ at age twelve, but at a point in time I backslid for a number of years when the world called, and I wanted to taste and see what was out there. Then I rededicated my life back to Christ and I've been there since.” In 1985 she was licensed to preach under Pastor James Peters of New Hope Baptist Church in Denver, CO. When she and husband; Pastor Steven Harrell moved to Albuquerque they attended New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church where she was ordained to preach by Bishop David Cooper, and was an Assistant Pastor for several years.

March 16th, Dr. Charles Steele, the National President of the SCLC was in Albuquerque in response to an invitation extended by Dr. Charles Becknell, to participate with the chapter that they are organizing here for the state SCLC. Dr. Steele said that their hopes are to have as many as four local chapters throughout the state. “Several years ago there was a local chapter here and hopes are for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to become more active in this region, and Dr. Becknell is leading us in that direction,” said Dr. Steele.
